In The Family Way

Genre: Horror/Thriller
Logline: A young couple moves to an idyllic rural town populated by a tight-knit religious community. As they deal with the pressures of starting a new family, they learn their welcoming new neighbors have nefarious plans to use them as a vessel for a death ritual.
Awards: Best Horror Screenplay issued by LA Crime & Horror Film Festival (November 2023)
Process: In this slow burn cult-horrror/thriller, the central figure, Chloe, suffers from past trauma that's exploited by her husband and the townspeople seeking a new surrogate. The script places Chloe in a no-win situation, isolating her, and surrounding her with small town nice. Feeling trapped within the rigid bounds of the institutions of marriage and family, she’s a woman who breaks through societal expectations. A woman who feels value outside of the expectation to entertain the male gaze, have children, be married, and climb the social ladder for material gain. In the end, she discovers the true horror: the idea these institutions considered sacred isn't so pure after all.

Mind-ful Podcast
Episode 106: "Human Error"
Format: Podcast Episode
Genre: Mystery/Comedy
Logline: When cutting-edge wellness brand, Mind-ful, recruits book-loving analog girl turned accidental influencer, Jax, for their exclusive social club, she quickly learns nothing about this wellness brand is as it seems.
Process: I was tasked with writing the climactic reveal of Zeek's true identity who is the entrepreneurial prodigy behind Mind-ful while also exploring the dangerous effects of social media. The catch? Only use sound effects and dialogue. To accomplish this, I structured the episode so that Jax's best friend, Sameera, acts as his catfish, gaining his trust and friendship via texting. The cat and mouse chase ensues as tension rises and Zeek anticipates meeting Sameera at a secretly disclosed location. When they both reveal their identities not only to each other but to the whole world, Zeek exposes the true weakness of Mind-ful. Himself.

Genre: Comedy/Mystery/Romance
Process: Through exposition and building branch dialogue and narrative, my team and I immerse players in tales of fish-out-of-water comedy, twisting suspense, and unlikely romance. From a character who gradually turns into a cat and simultaneously has to figure out how to get to his final on time to a financially strapped waitress who must decide what to do when she stumbles upon a large sum of stolen money, we push players to explore an array of choices leading to unexpected outcomes.
